Well, it’s time to move on to another beach but we don’t go very far to check out Jumbie Beach. There are only about 6 parking places in the tiny lot across the street and we are lucky to get one! It’s not as long a hike down to the beach and worth the stop. Look at that water!!!

Jumbie Beach

We only spend a little time there because we have another beach to see and it’s the most famous one on St. John, Trunk Bay. Listed as one of the top ten beaches in the world , I can see why as we take pictures at the overlook!

This beach has it all!!! Pavilions, water sport rentals, bathrooms, a little beach stand selling food and drinks (alcohol is permitted at all the beaches😁) and even a lifeguard station!

Snorkeling is supposed to be some of the best here so we drop our stuff under a palm tree and don our snorkeling gear. The parks department installed markers underwater near the cay to indicate what fish and coral to look for.

Pretty cool!! We see all kinds of colorful tropical fish and coral ! There are signs all over the park (and in the water) not to stand on the coral. What a lot of people do not know is that coral is a living organism. It has a hard rock structure but the outer layer is a living, growing organism which can be damaged when people try to stand on them. Locals will yell at tourists who do! Preserving the coral is vital to the ecosystem for life underwater.

After snorkeling awhile, it’s time for a snack and to try another famous Caribbean rum drink, the Bushwhacker. This drink tastes like a milkshake but be forewarned, it will hit you like a Mack truck! It has 8 ingredients and 7 of them are liquor šŸ˜‚

Oh, my!! Suddenly, I’m very tired🄱and the sun is about to set so we hurry to the Wall , a great overlook of Cruz Bay. Spectacular!!

Sunset over Cruz Bay

Well, tomorrow I’ll be on my own exploring since Michelle has to work. I’ll check out a hiking trail that will take me to Salomon Bay and Honeymoon Beach!

Bushwhacker

2 oz. Cruzan dark rum. 2 oz. Kahlua. 2 oz. Amaretto liqueur. 2 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream (though I swore I would never drink anything with Bailey’s in it ever again in my life after a bad night one night🤢). 2 oz. vodka. 2 oz. Frangelico (suggested). 2 oz. Cream de Coconut 2 oz. Dark Creme de Cacao Blend with ice, pour into glasses and can top off with whipped cream! Enjoy!

Hi, I’m Rose. I am a single dental hygienist with grown children who lives/works part time in the States and part time on St. John, US Virgin Islands. I also love to travel. I would have stories about things that would happen either on St John or the various places I’ve visited. Many of my stories would be about unusual things that people in the states are not used to and some where a picture painted a thousand words. So when my friends encouraged me to write a blog, I was hesitant. Would anyone read it? The advice given: those who care will read it and those who do not care, don’t worry about. Here’s my blog for those who care to know me a little better and sometimes get a good laugh or just want to see what island life is all about.
