Onward to the BVI

So it’s Day 5 of Molly and Whitney’s adventure vacation in the Virgin Islands. Today, we are going to the Baths on Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands!!!!!!🥰

Molly gets seasick on sailboats so our friend and boat captain, Roberta a.k.a. ‘Captain Happiness’ is taking us on her speedboat , Flying Pirate. Roberta’s moniker fits her perfectly because she is an always smiling , happy ball of energy 😍

We, along with other daughter, Cortney, and friends from St. John, are excited to feel the salt air on our faces….

😂😂😂 Evidently only Cortney knows how to ride on a speed boat

So a little interesting information about the Baths. This area became part of the British Virgin Islands National Parks in 1990. The Baths are huge granite boulders , some 40’ long! The boulders form natural tidal pools, arches, tunnels and grottoes out to the sea. It’s become a popular tourist destination and we are happy tourists to be able to see this unique geological wonder!

You can not motor into the Baths so you can swim in or use the access ropes to pull yourself in. This decision is based on your swimming ability and on the ocean swell.😳

There are steps and/or rope handrails to guide you through the pathways between the boulders. Once you are in, it’s a rare treat!

Happy Molly and Whitney
All of us squeezed in for a picture 🤗

After making our way through the Baths, it was time cool off with a drink! We take a short 10 minute hike to find the beach bar.

After our delicious tropical drinks, it’s time to swim back to the boat and head out to Leverick Bay for lunch.

Sisters😍

Okayyyyyyy, so lunch took FOREVER and ate up a lot of our day but we still got time to fit in some snorkeling.

Unfortunately, one person in our party had to get back early for work so we raced back to St John.

Captain Happiness determined to get back in time!😂

But no worries, once we back on St. John we were going to continue to make Whitney’s last day fun so we changed up and headed over to Maho Beach and walked over Maho CrossRoads which is across from the beach. Maho CrossRoads was established after Hurricane Irma wiped out the majority of palm trees and vegetation. There are food trucks, paddle board and kayak rentals and souvenir vendors. They even feature local musical artists from time to time.

And special treat, Brother Nature is playing 🥰

Next morning, we must bid Whitney farewell! But breakfast by the Caribbean is not a bad send-off😘

So friends, try to make it to St. John some day and let us show you a good time!

Hi, I’m Rose. I am a single dental hygienist with grown children who lives/works part time in the States and part time on St. John, US Virgin Islands. I also love to travel. I would have stories about things that would happen either on St John or the various places I’ve visited. Many of my stories would be about unusual things that people in the states are not used to and some where a picture painted a thousand words. So when my friends encouraged me to write a blog, I was hesitant. Would anyone read it? The advice given: those who care will read it and those who do not care, don’t worry about. Here’s my blog for those who care to know me a little better and sometimes get a good laugh or just want to see what island life is all about.
